Distribution notes

Below you can find distribution dependant notes for the linux installation help for PCI ADSL modems based on the conexant chipset.

RedHat

Version 9.0 is known to work with the 2.4.x driver, if you follow all the steps in the instructions.

Fedora

Fedora Core 2 is known to work with the 2.6.x kernel driver. Fedora core 2 already comes with the atm software component so step 3 is not necessary, however the atm headers files (atm.h) distributed with the OS are broken. If you symbolically link your kernel sources to /usr/src/linux. Then you may fix your atm header files with:

mv /usr/include/linux/atm.h /usr/include/linux/atm.h.bak
ln -s /usr/src/linux/include/linux/atm.h /usr/include/linux/atm.h

Fedora Core 3 is known to work with the 2.6.9 kernel originally released with the distribution. Howeverm the kernels released later as updates do not work. More information is available in the other installation guides section of my main guide.

Mandrake

Versions 10.0 and 10.1 are known to work with the 2.6.x kernel driver. Mandrake already comes with a kernel compiled with all the necessary modules so it is not necessary to follow step 2. Steps 3 and 5 are also redundant since Mandrake already comes with correct versions of these software components.
